Missio Learning Community

67d4d89925.jpgLast Saturday night Linda and I hosted a gathering of fellow Christ-followers interested in discovering at a deeper level what it might mean to be missional in our context here in Clark County, Washington. We extended an invitation to participate in a 12 week face to face learning community experience that will stimulate each participant’s natural missional engagement with their neighborhoods, workplaces, and social networks.

This learning community is based on an original prototype learning community facilitated by Dan Steigerwald that Linda and I participated in last fall. This Clark County Missional Learning Community with will focus on questions like:

  • What does it mean to be “missional” and why it matters?
  • What are possible missional ecclesial forms/structures applicable for our context?
  • How might we “live prophetically” in our context?
  • What does it look like to be creatively missional?
  • How do terms”organic” and “missional” fit together? How are they different?
  • What is “time-banking” and how does it foster community?
  • What does evangelism look like and what is the message we speak/live?
  • What does incarnational living look like in practice? What are some incarnational practices?

And then, what have we learned and how can we pass it on?

This is definitely a script that is capable of providing a rich experience for those of us who participate from the richness of our individual contexts. I’m looking forward to the adventure.
